Sutton Community Farm - Our Field Trip!

Last month we had the chance to visit Sutton Community Farm with Joris, the head of production, who showed us around.

Joris - Sutton Community Farm

They have a 7 acre smallholding near Wallington in south London with a beautiful range of vegetables such as courgettes, peppers aubergines, tomatoes (yellow, orange, red, purple and black!), cucumbers, salads, chard, kale, onions, herbs.

Sutton Community Farm is a community-owned social enterprise. They started in 2010 in response to a community need, with the purpose to increase access to fresh, healthy, sustainable food and provide a shared space for people to cultivate skills, get exercise and make friends. They grow their vegetables with organic principles using techniques such as crop rotation, green manure, compost and biological pest control, rather than synthetic petrochemical fertilisers and pesticides.

They offer vegbox delivered to inhabitants and wholesale. They also offer apprenticeships, learning programmes and the farm is open to the public on Wednesdays and twice a month on Saturdays. We can't recommend enough!
